Honoring the RAM Truck Logo

It is RAM commercial truck season here at Berthod Motors! So, in honor of our favorite American pickup, RAM, we'd like discuss a little bit about the brand's history today on the Berthod Motors blog.

Throughout the years the trucks available at our Glenwood Springs, CO showroom have undergone many changes, but one thing that has always remained the same is the RAM truck logo. The pickup trucks are built to be tough, reliable, and to stand out from the rest, just like the animal the brand is named after.

The automaker hired an artist and professor from the University of Michigan in 1931 to help create a logo design. Strong animals like lions and tigers were considered before the settling on the bighorn ram. The mountain sheep best represented what the automaker felt about their trucks. They're tenacious in nature, which means they won't back down from a challenge and they aren't afraid to climb any terrain, just like RAM trucks.

Here we are 82 years later, and the big horns are now synonymous with the RAM truck brand. However, you may find it interesting that the RAM hood ornament didn't appear until 1981, when the RAM name was born.

If you're not already a RAM truck owner, we invite you to visit Berthod Motors to check out the new RAM lineup. Our staff would be happy to provide you with all the details about RAM trucks, compare models, and arrange test drives.
